Can Ancestral Medicines Heal Humanity?

The Condor Eagle Prophecy is an ancient prophecy with different tellings among different indigenous communities in the Americas. The prophecy, speaks of a time more than 500 years ago when cultural flourishing and trade existed between two vast civilizations - the Eagle people of the North and the Condor people of the South.

From an archetypal perspective, the Eagle represents the mind; it carries a masculine energy that seeks, to discover and invent. The Condor represents the heart; it carries a feminine energy that seeks connection with the earth.

The prophecy states that a great division would emerge, leading to a 500-year cycle of violence that would shatter the union of the Condor and Eagle. Some say this coincides with the colonial conquest of the Americas that severed the cultural flourishing between the indigenous nations of North and South America. Other interpretations state that in this time of darkness, the Eagle people would become so powerful they would nearly drive the Condor people out of existence.

But after this spiritual winter, it is prophesied that a new 500-year “Pachakuti,” would arise, heralding a great spiritual springtime of purification and rejuvenation, where the Eagle and the Condor peoples would reunite once more.

In this new era, all of humanity would experience an awakening in consciousness and be presented with an opportunity to usher in a time of reconciliation, collective healing, and unity…. If we choose to claim it.

The Time is Now!

We Are in the Midst of a Psychedelic Revival

Ancestral medicines are expanding around the world and sacred ceremonies are the primary vehicle through which non-indigenous people are experiencing psychedelic healing. Huni Kuin, Yawanawá, and Shipibo chants are sung in circles as far-flung as California, Spain, Israel, and Thailand. The entheogenic church movement is gaining velocity as more spiritual communities claim protection under RFRA (the Religious Freedom Restoration Act).

The Legal Psychedelic Sector is Taking Root.

It’s estimated that now over 5.5 million adults in the US use psychedelics, more than any time in modern history.

  • MDMA is expected to receive FDA approval as a treatment for PTSD within the next year.
  • Australia has reclassified MDMA and psilocybin, allowing authorized psychiatrists to prescribe these medicines.
  • In Oregon, over 20 legal psilocybin service centers and 200 licensed facilitators are now in business
  • In a landmark victory, the Church of the Eagle and the Condor became the first non-Christian church in the US to gain the legal right to import and share ayahuasca as its sacrament.

While the Western world gets ready for legal psychedelics within a medical framework, with therapists, clinicians, and medical professionals the first in line to legally administer psychedelic therapies…

…seizures of ancestral medicines continue to rise, along with arrests of indigenous wisdom keepers found carrying their sacrament, as well as raids on entheogenic religious practitioners practicing their faith.

Join the Plant Spirit Summit as we examine the essential role that indigenous medicines play in the Psychedelic Renaissance, and get ready to explore the union of psychedelic therapy and ancestral wisdom for humanity’s collective liberation.

He was born in a Wixarika community in the high mountains of the Sierra Madre Occidental. Coming from an unbroken lineage of Marakames, he started his studies at an early age under his parents and followed the sacred path throughout his entire life, learning all about the Wixarika cosmology, music and art. Modesto is a gifted musician who has received and written many of the traditional Wixarika chants, his ceremonies are led by the violin and the traditional canari guitar and dance.

Abuela Vitelia Criollo

Abuela Vitelia Criollo comes from the Cofán indigenous community of lower Putumayo, (Colombia and Ecuador). Since childhood, she had a strong interest in learning about the traditional plants, songs, and ceremonies that are practised by her people. Today, she is referred to as Abuela (Grandmother) Vitelia and is considered one of the most knowledgeable elders in her community. She is also the only woman who has received permission to lead yagé ceremonies in her tribe.

Taita Universario Queta

Taita Universario Queta is Cofán medicine man who lives in the south of Colombia, in the Putumayo region, in the Santa Rosa del Guamuéz indigenous reserve, where there is a great wealth of natural jungle.

Taita Universario learned how to lead Yagé ceremonies at the hands of his elders in his community, through many years of constantly drinking medicine.

For the Cofán, through sacred ceremonies with Yagé, a space is created to heal, guide, teach us from the bottom of our hearts to live in fraternity, restore spiritually, and resolve internal and external conflicts.

Bladi

Bladi is a spiritual guide and healer, and has been a student of the Chachi tradition from the Cayapas River area of Ecuador for 15 years. He and his wife Ruth facilitate powerful and profound healing work through Wachuma and the music they bring.

The Mesa Chachi Prayer Circle with Bladi and Ruth is a glimpse into the sacred and mysterious wisdom of the Andes. Chants and prayers are shared around the fire from the evening until the next morning to honor the four elements and the ancient mystical traditions of the Chachi people. A true encounter with “Sumak Kawsay”, the Andean principle of living a life in balance with nature and walking in beauty with All Our Relationships.

Ruth

Alongside her husband, Bladi, Ruth facilitates Wachuma ceremonies that originate from the Chachi tradition of Ecuador. While Bladi and Ruth do not come from the Chachi community themselves, they were welcomed by tribe’s elders because of their eagerness to learn the Wachuma tradition and share its healing power where it’s most needed – in the cities.

Today, she walks with immense gratitude to be able to bring feminine essence and wisdom to the Wachuma ceremonies she leads together with Bladi.

Along With Members of Tribo Mãe d’Agua, Organizers of the Condor Eagle Festival in Alto Paraíso, Brazil

Tribo Mãe d'Agua's founding members were friends for many years in Alto Paraíso de Goiás, in Chapada dos Veadeiros, where they began to consecrate Ayahuasca together in 1996.

Under the leadership of Madrinha Yatra Barbosa, together, the music collective went through a process of transformation and awakening as a community-led entheogenic church.

They learned how to work within the force of the medicine, facilitate the congregations' experience during ceremonies, and create a sacred space where healing can manifest.

Tribo Mãe d'Agua organizes the Condor Eagle Festival every 2 years in Alto Paraiso, Brazil, which offers ceremonies from different plant medicine lineages of the Americas.

and hear the voices of the Amazon!

This was the highlight of my year! I was blown away by the quality of the content and the integrity of the program, with a diverse array of captivating speakers. It was an incredible gift to learn directly from master medicine practitioners all over the world. It helped me to better understand my own calling and deepen my relationship with the plant teachers in my personal journey, and each talk left me feeling excited and inspired to learn more. This was a huge service to the medicines and to Pachamama at a time when this work is entering mainstream consciousness like never before.

I would love to share a testimonial about how satisfying this event really was for me. I am so thrilled to have been able to learn from such a diverse and thoughtful panel. With a strong, driven community like this thriving…I can be more confident that I will be able to understand how to support my clients in a way typical abstinence based models cannot. I deeply recognize the value of cultivating healthy relationships with the plants that enter our bodies as food and medicine. The wisdom and experiences shared here , provided me with insights the likes of which are found nowhere else. I am much more confident that I can proceed ethically and responsibly to help my clients, with acces to science based resources like this. Thank you for offering such a memorable event 🙂

Opal Claire Fewings

This was one of the most cutting edge, varied and fascinating events I have recently attended. There were such thought provoking, knowledgeable and inspiring speakers in an emerging and necessary field for our times. Whether you are just curious about this, dipping your toe in, fully immersed or studying there was a speaker for every realm such as the history of psychedelics, culture, techniques, modern vs traditional approaches or science. So much to get your teeth into.. Loved it and can't wait for more.

Luck M.B.

What a wonderful talk about ambil and mambe by Fernando Choa Falla. As someone from the British Isles, it makes me realise how much wisdom and knowledge we lost with the destruction of the Druids by the Roman legions and doubtless anything that was left of their understanding of the world disappeared in the fires of the witch hunts of the 16th and 17th centuries. Lorna Liana, thank you for extending the time we have for accessing all this wisdom. There is so much here. I am retired and have spent all of the last week glued to the screen. Some of the interviews I've watched twice. And I still won't have time to watch it all.

I’m so thrilled to see such a variety of topics and speakers. I’m new to the plant medicine tools and I feel like this is such a necessary ground to lay for anyone embarking on self inquiry and collective awareness.

Sarah D.

I was very impressed with the knowledge of presenters. I could tell they were speaking from their heart and have a genuine love for others who are still searching. I will be anxiously awaiting the next event and hope to learn even more. Thank you so much for your hard work. One love, always.

Harold M.

There was valuable information for seasoned voyagers and newbies alike. The speakers all had valuable insights from their years of experience working with entheogens and the topics covered were diverse and inclusive. The highlight for me was to see the underlying cohesion of emerging shamanic & entheogenic culture and gaining a better understanding of its scope. Hours of intriguing listening to be sure!

Scott F.

Very informative series that gave me a new perspective on everything ranging from counseling, plant medicine business aspects, environmental concerns, medical issues, kick ass connections and free gifts from the vanguard of the industry... all from the comfort of my own home.

Isn’t “shaman” and “shamanism” technically from Siberia?

A shaman can be defined as an earth-centered community guide and healer who travels between worlds to gather and transmit information that helps individuals and the community.

While the origin of the word “shaman” is believed to come from the Tungus Evenki language of North Asia, whose word “saman” means (very roughly) holder of knowledge. The term “shamanism” was first applied by Western anthropologists as outside observers of the ancient religion of the Turks and Mongols, as well as those of the neighbouring Tungusic and Samoyedic-speaking peoples.

Upon observing more religious traditions across the world, some Western anthropologists began to also use the term in a very broad sense. It was used to describe unrelated magico-religious practices found within the ethnic religions of other parts of Asia, Africa, Australasia, and even completely unrelated parts of the Americas, as they believed these practices to be similar to one another.

Mircea Eliade, Romanian historian and leading interpreter of religious experience, writes "A first definition of this complex phenomenon, and perhaps the least hazardous, will be: shamanism = 'technique of religious ecstasy'."

While it may seem impossible to define such a broad range of phenomena experienced by a pantheon of distinct spiritual and religious practices under a single word derived from North Asian culture, and some argue, to do so is “cultural appropriation”...

The truth is, from a linguistic perspective, language often follows and evolves based on commonly accepted understanding of what a word means by its users. So while the word curanderismo is more accurate when describing ayahuasca shamanism, and pajelança is more accurate in describing shamanism on the other side of the border in Brazil, in the English language the word “ayahuasca shamanism” dominates keyword searches for this phenomenon.

And so it is that “shaman” and “shamanism” have become the accepted, most commonly used words that describe the ancient practice that involves a practitioner reaching altered states of consciousness in order to perceive and interact with a spirit world and channel these transcendental energies into this world in order to affect real change.

A “shaman” is a person regarded as having access to, and influence in the world of benevolent and malevolent spirits. A shaman acts as an intermediary between the natural and supernatural worlds, using magic to cure illness, foretell the future, control spiritual and elemental forces, and affect outcomes in the physical world. Typically such people enter a trance state during a ritual, and practice divination and healing.

Why are only “a portion” of your proceeds going to support indigenous causes?

EntheoNation is a small, privately funded social enterprise that generates revenue from the sale of products and services, that then must cover the cost of operations, software, faculty payroll, web development, graphic design, program administration, and everything that goes towards excellent delivery of our customer and client experience as our primary fiduciary responsibility.

We operate under the principles of sacred commerce, supporting the livelihoods of our psychedelic community collaborators and indigenous partners, in the spirit of profound service and as a labor of love. We are not a 501(c)3 charitable organization that delivers social programs for free, while financially supported by wealthy private donors or foundation grants. Neither are we funded by venture capital investment or cannabis cash. But we do our very best to find ways to support indigenous communities and projects as company resources allow.

Is it cultural appropriation to sell digital content about indigenous wisdom and medicine?

This is not an event based on indigenous teachings. This Summit is a practical orientation guide to contemporary medicine culture and presents a general overview of core shamanic concepts found across numerous cultures.

This program does not offer any indigenous spiritual teachings that are considered to be secret or restricted knowledge reserved for people initiated into a specific lineage.

This program does present different cultures and spiritual traditions so that if students wish to receive indigenous teachings directly, they will be better oriented towards connecting with a lineage and teachers.

All experts featured in this program have shared their knowledge freely. The indigenous who are featured in this event have granted us permission for their knowledge to be shared in the program.

Is the commercialization of plant medicines exploitative of indigenous people?

The commodification of plants and the expansion of their commerce beyond their native regions has been a practice as old as human civilization. Coffee, cinnamon, potatoes, ginseng, tobacco, sage, and reishi mushrooms were all once “indigenous”.

Many plant medicines, like ayahuasca, have been “commercialized” for a long time already. Like doctors of today, in the Upper Amazon, shamans and healers have always received payment for healing services, whether in cash, food, or traded labor, like helping out with the harvest.

These sacred plant medicines were long administered as part of a holistic health care system, by shamans and healers who received some form of exchange for their services.

Shouldn’t sacred plant medicines be free?

While indeed the plants growing in Nature ARE free, it takes a lot of time, energy and expertise to find them, extract them, then make them into medicine. It also takes considerable time, energy, and expense to lead an all-night ceremony. Typically this labor isn’t free.

Most of the people who believe that “sacred plant medicine should be free” are Westerners who confuse plant medicine shamanism with Eastern spiritual traditions, where spiritual services were conducted for free for the community, and the community regularly tithed the monastery cash and harvest on a monthly basis, allowing monks and nuns to focus entirely on spiritual practices.

To expect indigenous people and native Amazonians to do all of this without pay, is not so different from the colonialism that once made the indigenous slaves of the conquistadors.

We expect to be paid for our work. We pay doctors in the West. Why shouldn’t plant medicine healers and shamans be paid well also?

Lovingly brought to you by our amazing sponsors & partners!
