In today's fast-paced society, we spend most of the time in our heads, meaning that we often don’t sense anything from the neck down.

This rootedness in the mind and the lack of presence and awareness is the underlying cause of much of our stressful and maladaptive responses to life's challenges. We need to slow down and reconnect with our body and the feeling of being — we need to learn to experience life more somatically.

To be somatic means to be able to observe our internal sensations. Somatic breathing, for example, includes increasing our sensory awareness of our throat, diaphragm, jaw, and shoulders as we breathe, noticing the movement of the belly, ribs and chest as we inhale and exhale. 

Learning to go deeper into the body increases our awareness of our physical, energetic/emotional, mental holdings, and allows us to release trauma energyincrease our vitality, and create more mindful reaction patterns in our brain.

When we truly breathe, in a yogicconsciously connected, and somatic way, we open up our diaphragm, solar plexus, stomach, and lungs to let go of repressed emotional and trapped trauma energy stuck in the body.

In this 2-day Workshop, you will learn how to blend these three breathing techniques (yogic breath, somatic breath, and the consciously connected O breath), which will together rewire your bodily physiology, make you more aware of your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and restore your prana and energy levels. 

Meet Your Facilitator, Sat Somatic

Sat is a kundalini teacher trainer, reiki master, and breath worker, and a qualified Somatic Experiencing® Therapist and Assistant Provider in Somatic trainings worldwide. She is a member of the SEA UK, EASE & SETI international regulatory boards of Somatic Experiencing®.

She has trained with some of the top somatic therapists that directly work with Peter Levine, the developer of Somatic Experiencing®, and has created her own method of breathwork to heal trauma combining yogic breath, consciously connected breath, and somatic therapy/somatic touch to help heal trauma in the mind-body connection.

Sat is currently studying transpersonal psychotherapy in CCPE in Little Venice, and she teaches in top studios around London, combining somatic therapy, breathwork, and kundalini to help heal trauma.

I came to Sat at a stage in my life where my body and nervous system were so overloaded with unresolved traumas to the point where my body was offloading by having spontaneous seizures.

When I could no longer work, I began taking somatic experiencing sessions with her.

Our sessions aren't always easy but I've noticed changes - I've lost weight, got back into work and cut down, even cut out some addictive behaviors that were a coping mechanism of the energy and repressed muscle tension stuck in my body.

What is somatic experiencing®?

Somatic Experiencing® was developed by Peter A. Levine, PhD to address the effects of trauma. 

Levine developed this approach after observing that prey animals, whose lives are routinely threatened in the wild, are able to recover readily by physically releasing the energy they accumulate during stressful events.

Humans, on the other hand, often override these natural ways of regulating the nervous system with feelings of shame and pervasive thoughts, judgments, and fears. Somatic Experiencing® aims to help people move past the place where they might be “stuck” in processing a traumatic event.
