Psychedelic medicines as breakthrough therapies hold huge promise for a world in the grip of a mental health crisis. As a result, the psychedelic sector is one of the fastest-growing professional sectors in the Global North.

The rapid expansion of this emergent field of mental healthcare and personal transformation is creating endless opportunities for highly-skilled, experienced coaches and therapists.

While psychedelic therapy programs have high bars for entry and typically focus on a clinical framework, integration coaching is open to all those passionate about working with shamanic, energetic, spiritual, multidimensional, and holistic modalities.

The 8-month long Plant Spirit School Integration Coach Certification program features a hybrid curriculum which incorporates ancestral shamanic and spiritual approaches, contemporary harm reduction and healing practices, as well as effective, ethical business development training.

If you are interested in growing your vocation in the Psychedelic Renaissance, our program will give you the well-rounded knowledge you need to leverage your experience with sacred medicines and transform it into a thriving career calling.

In our Open House video, you’ll discover:

  • The top 3 reasons why integration specialists, especially those experienced in medicine ceremonies, are in high demand right now.
  • The 3 core capacities you need to cultivate in order to become a safe, skilled, and successful integration specialist.
  • What principles our Certification Program is founded upon, who our faculty are, and why they are uniquely qualified to share their knowledge with you.

The promise of psychedelics to address the global mental health crisis is only as strong as the availability of qualified integration specialists who can support clients through the most transformational experience of their lives...

The psychedelic renaissance needs more integration specialists...

Are you ready to heed the call?

  • Have you been regularly working with visionary plants and fungi and feel a soul-calling to support others in the most healing, transformational work of their lives?
  • Are you an aspiring or existing coach that regularly attends plant medicine ceremonies, who wishes to offer psychedelic integration, shamanic practices, or microdosing as part of your transformational services?
  • Are you a member of a lineage-based or New Age plant medicine community or entheogenic church who wishes to support others in your ceremony circle through trauma-informed integration?
  • Have you sat or apprenticed with indigenous healers or entheogenic clergy for years, but don’t wish to go back to school for 2-5 years just to be considered professionally “qualified” to offer integration services?
  • Are you being disqualified from notable psychedelic-assisted training programs because you are not a licensed or aspiring therapist even though you have more psychedelic experience than most of the faculty in these programs?

What if it were possible to dismantle the gatekeeping and catalyze a culture of peer-to-peer integration, so that anybody anywhere can connect with an ideal integration provider that’s safe, qualified and good?

Kyle Buller, Co-Founder of Psychedelics Today

“Lorna recently helped my team and me out with a launch strategy for an upcoming training program. Lorna provided such valuable and high-level information during our discovery call, which helped us tremendously in our plan and strategy.

I highly recommend Lorna if you are looking for marketing and online business coaching/services, especially for those in the psychedelic/plant medicine space. Many of us working in this space are dedicated to serving, but sometimes get stuck or don't know how to execute the vision or mission. Lorna can definitely help.”

why you? why now?

The Psychedelic Revolution in Psychiatry is Here.
However… It’s Mostly Still Illegal

Psychedelic medicine is a promising new frontier in psychotherapy, but many indigenous cultures have been using visionary plants and fungi for healing and spiritual purposes for millennia.

While the FDA has granted "breakthrough therapy" designation to MDMA, esketamine, and psilocybin, these treatments remain mostly illegal, causing people to go underground or abroad to access psychedelic-supported healing.

However, psychedelics are not a silver bullet – the most powerful, transformational work is accomplished during the integration period after the experience. Unfortunately, many plant medicine ceremony circles, churches, and retreats don’t have the capacity to offer ongoing integration support. Many don’t even believe integration support is their responsibility.

As a result, participants often find themselves back in their default world, cut adrift after the ceremony or retreat, having to resolve activated traumas, integrate visionary experiences, process profound realizations by themselves.

Currently, the demand for psychedelic experiences exceeds the supply of qualified psychedelic-assisted therapy practitioners. The most prestigious psychedelic training programs are not graduating students fast enough, and those that do graduate tend to be clinical in orientation.

This has led to criticism of institutional gatekeeping by the wider psychedelic community, which includes many people who have vastly more hands-on, real-world entheogenic experience than the faculty teaching these programs.

There is a tremendous need for experienced integration specialists who are safe, qualified, and good to support people through the profoundly transformational process. A need for integration providers who are familiar with the growing and evolving landscape of global medicine culture and the numerous ways in which people are undertaking psychedelic experiences.

Is this you?

who we are

The Plant Spirit School Coach Certification Program was created with love for ceremony practitioners that appreciate Western transformational modalities and science while living a lifestyle interwoven with the shamanic healing arts. We are educators, therapists, coaches, healers, ceremony facilitators, guides, trip sitters, activists, and bridgekeepers.

Like you, we are interdimensional journeyers and manifestors of synchronicities, connoisseurs of visionary art, tea, and high vibrational music. Together, we are fulfilling a Soul Purpose that spans time and space, accompanied by our spirit guides and allies, as perpetual students in the Great Mystery School of Life.

We, the Plant Spirit School faculty, see an urgent need for more people in the plant medicine community to have the requisite psychedelic harm reduction training – the kind that students in psychedelic-assisted therapy training programs receive – especially for those that are currently leading ceremonies, supporting ceremonies or offering transformational services that advocate for or include the use of entheogens.

This is because psychedelic psychotherapy is a different discipline than shamanic healing, and the vast majority of people who participate in plant medicine ceremonies receive information that is lineage-based, faith-based, or channeled, rather than evidence-based.

“The Medicine told me so, and my intuition confirmed this…”

Over the years, we’ve witnessed considerable harm come from belief-oriented paradigms, from dangerous drug contraindications (ayahuasca and Bufo) to harmful conspiracy theories, malpractice, and misinformation that gives rise to preventable deaths.

Because much of the rapidly expanding psychedelic sector remains unregulated and underground, the potential for harm is increased, as more inexperienced and unsafe shamans, facilitators, and retreat operators enter a burgeoning and increasingly lucrative market that's now super-charged with tech and cannabis investment capital.

Furthermore, we couldn’t help but notice the skew of power in the psychedelic sector to benefit venture capitalists and shareholders who are predominantly white and male and are driving an explosion of treatments and services catering to the predominantly white and affluent.

For this reason, we believe that the decolonization of plant medicines is important work that needs to happen RIGHT NOW.

If we wish truly for planetary healing, then medicine must be accessible to all.

It is our sincere hope that the Plant Spirit School Coach Certification Program will graduate future leaders of integrity, who will further diversity, equity, and inclusion in the psychedelic sector so that sacred medicines may be safely accessible to all who need healing. Haux haux!

As an advocate for Sacred Reciprocity in the Psychedelic Sector, Lorna presents master classes, panel discussions, trainings, and workshops on the many ways organizations and individuals can support indigenous sovereignty and plant medicine sustainability.

Lorna consults with psychedelic companies to develop reciprocity programs that align with their values. As a result of this work, over $100K in charitable contributions have been allocated towards NGOs operating in the Amazon. As a company, our Sacred Reciprocity program focuses on these two areas:

Because EntheoNation is a media company, we support the indigenous inclusion in media, including conference speaking engagements, as well as the production of video documentaries and sacred medicine music, through our collaboration with the Huni Kuin of Brazil and the Siekopai of Ecuador.

We do this because we feel it's important that the indigenous have a seat at the table in the Psychedelic Renaissance so that they can tell their story, share their perspectives, and express their most pressing concerns. Lest their voices are drowned out by the cacophony of online influencers from the West who are co-opting and dominating the global conversation about ancestral plant medicines.

Reciprocity organizations

We make charitable contributions to organizations like Amazon Watch, Amazon Sacred Headwaters Initiative, Pachamama Alliance, and Amazon Conservation Team, and other NGOs engaged in advocacy, capacity building, and sustainability initiatives with indigenous communities in the Amazon Basin.

We are honored to support the Huni Kuin village of Novo Futuro, in Acre Brazil in a variety of community-empowering initiatives, such as the installation of a solar water system, as well as the construction of their music house, maloca, and community center for plant medicine dietas.

The movement to decriminalize and legalize psychedelics is expanding, the number of people who need service support and guidance is only going to increase, and the number of vocational opportunities will continue to multiply. This training will tremendously increase the qualifications of anyone already fulfilling these responsibilities or intending to serve in the following roles:

Transformational Coaching

Health and wellness influencers, peak performance specialists, and executive coaches are increasingly pivoting to promote psychedelics, microdosing, and plant medicine ceremonies as tools of human optimization. Naturopaths, holistic healers, energy healers, and herbalists are also increasingly including entheogens in their natural healing protocols

Looking at their blogs, YouTube trip reports, and podcasts, it’s evident that many of these coaches are relatively inexperienced with these medicines, with fewer than 10 ceremonies under their belt.

Most are not trauma-informed and are uninformed about psychedelic safety and harm-reduction and the difference between decriminalized and legal, thereby putting their clients at risk.

We recommend that coaches who are advocating for entheogenic plant medicines receive practical harm reduction training.

Our faculty experts have got you covered!

Improve your ceremony skills

Many people in this sector come to do plant medicine work through lineage-based traditions, spiritual communities, entheogenic churches, or neoshamanic circles.

Much of the information passed down may reflect cultural tradition, wisdom, lore, and reflect alternative paradigms of healing. This has created a gap in evidence-based education on harm reduction – we will provide this for you.

There is also an urgent need for ceremony facilitators, organizers, guardians, and assistants to offer ongoing integration support to ceremony participants. We’ll equip you with the skills you need to offer this too.

In this program, we’ll teach you how to host a peer-to-peer integration circle, both online and offline, as an ongoing, community building, revenue-generating, client-attracting activity.

Develop Personalized Microdosing Programs

Microdosing is the practice of taking small, sub-perceptual amounts of psychedelics like psilocybin and LSD for a variety of therapeutic benefits, including mood elevation, enhanced cognition, creativity, pain management, and addiction recovery.

However, this practice of taking small amounts of entheogenic plants and fungi for healing and spiritual guidance goes back for millennia. We will explore the different medicines that are increasing in popularity for microdosing, dosages, and protocols.

You also get intake worksheets, progress surveys, and journaling exercises, so that you can easily develop a personalized microdosing program for yourself and others.

Create 1-1 Private Mentoring Programs

We will teach you how to create private mentoring programs and packages for 1-to-1 client work.

You’ll learn how to structure your programs around progress milestones so that your client moves towards their deeply desired outcomes in clear, measurable ways.

The skills you learn in this program can be applied to help your clients rewire self-limiting beliefs, move through blockages, and recommit to their vision so that the empowerment and transformation they receive from working with you is priceless.

Host, organize plant medicine ceremony

Organizers are those who handle the logistics of a ceremony or retreat. Ideally, the ceremony facilitator should not be handling ceremony logistics, and instead should have a team member who handles reservations and payments, intake forms and liability waivers, preparation, onboarding, and arrival logistics. This is because ceremony facilitators need to conserve their energy to lead the work, be completely present for participants and become a clear spiritual channel for the divine.

This role is especially important for organizers and venue hosts who are receiving indigenous and mestizo ceremony leaders from other countries who cannot be responsible for any logistics.

As the organizer and host who is responsible for the well-being of your local community, you will also need to establish agreements with visiting medicine men and women on expectations and appropriate conduct to minimize potential conflicts that can arise from cross-cultural exchange.

Don’t worry, we will give you all the templates you need for this role!

Create Safer Ceremony Spaces

Increasing numbers of sacred ceremonies, retreats, journeys, and circles are being led by people who are straight, white, and cisgender, many of whom are not trauma-informed, remain unaware of systemic privilege and oppression, and have not done any antiracism work.

This creates situations whereby the facilitator unknowingly creates harm for BIPOC and LGBTQA+ participants through racial microaggressions or spiritual bypass. Because entheogenic medicines tend to reveal past traumas so that they may be healed, many BIPOC and LGBTQA+ folks may find themselves addressing personal and generational trauma from systemic oppression.

You will learn how to minimize harm and create more welcoming, inclusive, and equitable spaces for BIPOC and trans, non-binary, and gender non-conforming folk so that they feel safe enough to surrender and receive the healing they deserve.

Lead Integration Circles

The rollout of legal psychedelic therapies and increasing decriminalization movement will result in a proportionally increasing need for integration support.

Integration circles are a great way to provide this support and build community while offering an essential service that also creates revenue. They are also a powerful way to attract private clients who need deeper, personalized integration support.

Learn how to host and facilitate an in-person or virtual integration circle step by step.

Teach Online Workshops, Courses & Programs

You’ll learn highly effective strategies to build your thought leader status with wider audiences, and create online workshops and courses for larger groups of people.

Group programs allow you to serve more people at a lower price point while generating more income for the same amount of coaching time consumed by a VIP client.

There is more upfront technical work that must be done in order to successfully launch group workshops, courses, and programs. We will give you the blueprints and templates you need to scale your coaching practice with clarity and ease.

So many transformational programs teach you their coaching frameworks and modalities, but don’t teach you how to properly build a business that attracts ideal clients! So many students graduate not knowing where to find their first clients and spend countless hours giving away free sessions in the hopes that a freebie seeker will pay them one day, while their bank accounts grow lower.
This is tragic.

This is why you will also receive training on how to grow an online coaching business from Lorna Liana, on the 4th week of every month. A seasoned online business coach, creatrix of transformational programs, and full-stack Internet marketer, Lorna will guide you step by step on how to create an online presence that authentically reflects your values and soul purpose.

Principles of Sacred Commerce

Sacred Commerce is the practice of business as a path of awakening and self-realization. Just because business is a spiritual path of awakening, does not mean that you must perform your services for free, or feel bad for charging what you are worth!

In Sacred Commerce, profit is an expression of love, a source of nourishment that provides prosperity to all stakeholders. We’ll explore what creating a sacred business entails, in the culture you create, the agreements you make, and the ways you promote your offers.

Discover what it means to leverage your sacred business as a force for liberation.

Ethical Marketing & Communications

Marketing in the psychedelic sector is much like medical marketing. We’ll explore the ethical nuances of marketing and communications in the psychedelic field, where anecdotal evidence dwarfs data from long-term placebo-controlled studies, and researchers continue to disagree on the benefits and risks of microdosing.

Learn to navigate an environment where incorrect information can be a matter of life and death, and unsubstantiated claims can lead to false hope and devastating disappointment.

We’ll also cover strategies and tips for business owners to grow their brand and reach ideal clients online while avoiding some of the pitfalls that can be triggered by the words you use on your website.

Common Challenges of Psychedelic Brands

Publishers, online conference organizers, and course creators in the psychedelic sector frequently encounter business-disrupting obstacles, even if their content is only ever about research, science, expert interviews, live panels, culture, or the latest news.

AI-driven account disabling, automatic group deletion, content blocking, and shadow-banning are frequent sources of headaches for business owners and media platforms in this space who have valuable thought leadership to share.

Transformational Program Design

Stop charging by the hour and create transformational programs instead. Because the truth is, your clients don’t really care how many hours they spend on you, they just want to get the results you promise.

Creating high-end, high-touch transformational packages for private clients or group programs is not only more lucrative for you, it’s a more fulfilling client experience.

You’ll learn how to design an offer strategy that allows you to serve different clients at different investment levels so that you can offer ideal fit programs for different clientele.

Client Attraction Strategies

Now that you have your offers, you have your agreements and waivers, and you are ready to exactly do you get clients, especially the ideal clients that are a joy to work with, whose lives you can meaningfully transform?

We’ll explore the most effective strategies and skills for online client attraction and lead generation, ensuring that those who need you, can see you.

Stop throwing spaghetti at the wall with your marketing, or exhausting yourself creating content that doesn’t bring you clients. Get a proven strategy that works!

Online Business Fundamentals

Attracting ideal clients is one part of the online business challenge, successfully closing sales is another. If you do not have an automated sales system set up, chances are, you are losing sales.

You’ll learn how to set up an automated online business system that allows you to easily book discovery session calls with ideal prospects, build your email list, capture online sales, set up payment plans, e-sign client agreements, and enroll them into your training.

No more chasing people down by email with your Paypal link – there is a better way!

“I chose Lorna as my private mentor because I was impressed and inspired by the quality of her media platform and online business systems.

I am an advocate of the Brazilian indigenous communities and last year I reached out to Lorna for support. In a few months, we brought indigenous wisdom keepers to speak at different global online conferences and created a live virtual workshop that collected over $7k in donations!

I am so grateful to finally meet a powerhouse woman in the entheogenic community that holds the same integrity with the medicines and traditions like I do.”

SEPTEMBER 19 - 28, 2022

After the completion of the 8-month coach certification program, students will have an opportunity to participate in an optional practicum retreat, to practice the skills gained in the training with each other, perform intake and goals assessment, and guide each other through the process of plant medicine ceremony preparation, navigation, and integration.

The retreat takes place in the Sacred Valley, where we will be received by Plant Spirit School instructor Marc-John Brown, his wife Erika, their teachers, and their retreat facilitation team. We will have the opportunity to work with 2 sacred plant medicines:

Noe Romeo Lopez and Silvia Marin Garcia - Plant Spirit School

Our Ayahuasca ceremonies will be led under the moonlight by maestro Noé Romeo López, and his wife, maestra Silvia Marín García (formerly of Soltara Healing Center in Costa Rica). They are of the Shipibo-Konibo lineage of the Peruvian Amazon region of Ucayali. They have been practicing plant medicine ceremonies for over twenty years and are firm stewards of the full-spectrum Shipibo-Konibo healing modality, including the plethora of master plants and trees that this entails.

We will be journeying with the grandfather cactus, Huachuma, during daylight, diligently and carefully guided by Q'ero master healer, Danilo Flores Apaza, a 'Papamisayoq', or lineage 'priest', as he's more commonly known among Peru's Andean cultures. Walking to a little-known, 'secret' part of the deeply sacred mountain that is Saqsayhuaman, we will be masterfully guided by Danilo into a deep connection and communion with Pachamama - Mother Earth, the Apus - the mountain Gods of Andean cosmology, and with Grandfather Huachuma himself. We will also be blessed with the opportunity to take a deeply cleansing dip in the crystalline waters of the nearby river, showering in its waterfalls and rejuvenating our souls.

The Practicum Retreat is Optional and is Not
Included in the Program Tuition
Retreat Investment TBD

While The Plant Spirit School Coach Certification Training is a new program, over the years, we’ve launched many courses and programs. Here’s what our past students have to say about their learning experience.

I’ve taken Lorna’s courses and if I was going to learn how to be a psychedelic integration coach from anyone, it would definitely be her. She’s also one of the best digital marketers in the sector, with beautiful websites, uber-successful summits, and excellent content.

Ana Holub

Psychedelic integration coach and author of Forgive and Be Free

Lorna is an informed, articulate and caring teacher. She's put together an excellent course for anyone who's interested in changing our global culture to one of healing, sustainability, and respect.

Decolonizing Plant Medicine Culture helped me learn about decolonization and what I can do to support indigenous communities and their essential knowledge of plant medicines. Highly recommended!

Lorna Liana

Deep in the heart of the Brazilian Amazon, Lorna Liana discovered her purpose and her divine calling while drinking ayahuasca with indigenous wisdom-keepers. She was given a mission:

“To leverage emerging technologies to preserve indigenous traditions, so that ancient wisdom can benefit the modern world, and technology can empower indigenous people.”

In pursuit of this mission, Lorna became a digital media strategist to sustainable brands, social ventures, and high-tech companies, as well as an online business coach to visionary entrepreneurs. She is the CEO of EntheoNation, a media company covering psychedelics, modern shamanism, and visionary culture. She is also the Founder of The Plant Spirit School, an online school offering workshops, programs, and 1-to-1 mentoring to individuals and professionals in the psychedelic and plant medicine sector.

With over 25+ years of psychedelic exploration and 100s of ceremonies, Lorna is an advocate for the safe, intentional use of entheogens as a tool of self-mastery, as well as the practice of sacred reciprocity. She credits the intentional use of ancestral medicines, such as ayahuasca and magic mushrooms, for healing a lifetime of racial and colonial trauma. Her experience growing up in colonial Hong Kong informs her work on plant medicine decolonization and inspires her to further the expansion of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the psychedelic sector.

We welcome anyone who wishes to uplevel their own practice and contribute towards co-creating a safe, inclusive, and diverse medicine community, in right relationship to the ancestral cultures that continue to hold these medicines sacred.

This coach certification program is ideal for:

  • Anyone who wishes to learn effective trauma release and behavioral change frameworks, tools and techniques that help optimize the psychedelic experience.
  • Experienced ceremony participants who wish to cultivate their leadership abilities so that they can be of service to their medicine community.
  • Aspiring or existing therapists and coaches who wish to incorporate psychedelic integration in their practice as a new transformational modality.
  • Aspiring or existing psychedelic professionals who wish to understand, learn and incorporate shamanic healing paradigms in their practice.
  • Shamanic, spiritual and holistic healers incorporate evidence-based psychedelic integration in their practice.

who it isn’t for

The Plant Spirit School is not a psychedelic facilitator or guide training program; we do not teach how to administer psychedelic medicines. We advocate that anyone seeking to facilitate psychedelic ceremonies and sessions learn from an appropriate elder, within a community of experienced cohorts, in the modality they wish to practice in.

For this reason, the coach certification program is not ideal for:

  • Those who wish to learn how to facilitate ceremonies or administer medicine.
  • Those who do not believe that COVID testing is a necessary safety protocol for group ceremonies.
  • Those who find conversations about systemic privilege, racial inequity, and decolonization to be divisive, and prefer to avoid them because they create “a negative vibration”.
  • Those who wish to profit from the Psychedelic Renaissance without considering and advocating for reciprocity.
  • Those who wish to profit from the Psychedelic Renaissance without considering and advocating for sustainability.
  • Those who wish to profit from the Psychedelic Renaissance without considering and advocating for diversity and inclusion.

When does the program start?

The program starts on Tuesday, April 19, 2022

How much does the program cost?

The Standard Tuition for our coach certification program is $7900 Full Pay. You can also choose the installment plan, which involves a $1500 down payment and 8 Installments of $1050 automatically charged to your credit card.

A special Early Bird rate is available to those who commit by February 25, 2022: $6800 Full Pay or $1500 down payment and 8 Installments of $875.

How long is the program and what is the time investment?

This is an intensive 8-month program with 1-2 live calls a week. Some weeks may include virtual weekend retreats which may be 1 or 2 half days in length, once or twice a month. Expect to spend 4-6 hours a week exploring the program content. This looks like 2.5-3 hours of weekly lectures, with the remainder of the time spent reading, working on assignments, and completing the lesson quizzes. All lectures and virtual retreats will be recorded so that you can access the training at any time.

What are the dates and times?

Call schedules vary week by week depending on the call topic or modality being taught, Guest Faculty availability and their time zone. In general, Zoom calls will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays and are up to 90 minutes in length.

Each month’s schedules will be provided 1 month in advance. All live calls are recorded and will be added to the Student Portal after broadcast.

Virtual retreats take place once a month, and may be 1 or 2 half day experiences, for 2-3 hours in duration each day.

What time zones are most compatible with the live calls?

Though Lorna is based in Spain, the vast majority of our guest faculty and students are located in the United States, so time zone compatibility is most aligned with North American time zones. Because the movement to decriminalize and legalize psychedelics for mental health and wellness is most prominent in the United States, we want to ensure that this training is accessible to the expanding group of aspiring coaches and therapists who wish to work in the legal psychedelic sector.

That being said, all calls are recorded and available on-demand in the student portal. Lorna, or one of her team, will be available to answer questions posted in the Facebook group.

Do I need to have experienced psychedelics to be accepted into this program?

We prioritize applicants who have attended entheogenic ceremonies on a regular basis for at least one year. This is because we feel that it is essential that a psychedelic integration provider know what a psychedelic experience is, before offering integration support.

Indeed it is possible for many types of coaches who are familiar with altered states of consciousness achieved through other modalities to offer transformational services to a client who is seeking support for specific goals or outcomes, as well as challenges that may have been revealed by medicine work. However, we believe that the positioning of oneself as a “plant medicine integration specialist” warrants personal experience with plant medicine ceremonies.

What is the difference between your program and other psychedelic training programs?

The Plant Spirit School Integration Coach Training Program is designed specifically for people who wish to be coaches, rather than therapists. Most of the psychedelic-assisted therapy programs are training people to support patients receiving psychedelic medicine (such as ketamine, MDMA, and psilocybin) in a clinical setting. These patients are typically seeking psychedelic therapy to address mental health conditions, such as anxiety, depression, PTSD, addiction recovery, and chronic pain.

The few other psychedelic coach training programs do not center their curriculum on sacred plant medicines and fungi, particularly the contemporary cultural landscape around their use. One notable program is focused on addiction and recovery, and only touches upon psychedelic integration. Another is focused on microdosing.

Our coach training program is oriented towards people who participate in sacred medicine ceremonies for healing, spiritual insight, and personal growth. The program focuses on transformational modalities as well as shamanic practices to support achieving desired outcomes in life. This may include tangible goals, such as attracting a life partner or making a career change. It may also include inner goals, such as activating creative flow, developing intuition, or cultivating confidence.

Why aren't there enough psychedelic integration providers?

Decriminalization and legalization of psychedelics as breakthrough treatments for mental health is expanding around the world. As a result, the current demand for psychedelic therapy is growing rapidly, with patients of legal ketamine clinics experiencing long wait times. Because psychedelic medicine remains illegal in most locales, many are turning to underground facilitators, plant medicine ceremonies, and retreats.

With the increase in interest for psychedelics, there is a proportional increase in demand for integration support. At the moment, there is a bottleneck with notable organizations that are training psychedelic therapists - they are not graduating people fast enough. This is why there aren't enough qualified people to meet the increasing demand for psychedelic medicine.

The promise of psychedelics to address the global mental health crisis is only as strong as the availability of qualified integration specialists who can support clients through the most transformational experience of their lives. This is why now is an opportune time to become a certified plant medicine integration coach.

Why don't ceremony facilitators or retreat organizers provide ongoing integration support to participants?

Integration support is a responsibility that requires certain skills and training to do well, that anyone can learn. Some ceremony facilitators do offer integration packages but many do not. High-end retreat centers like Soltara in Costa Rica offer ongoing integration support.

The ones that do typically have a psychotherapy or coaching background. Others, such as indigenous ceremony leaders, shamanic healers, and medicine musicians may not be well-resourced or trained to offer ongoing support. Organizing and leading ceremonies and retreats is already a lot of work, many have day jobs, and thus do not have the extra capacity. Many do not feel it is their responsibility to provide integration support.

Ceremony guardians and helpers, volunteer members of the community, who assist the ceremony often do not have the skills or capacity to provide ongoing integration support either. They just volunteered all night, so the additional labor is beyond their pay grade!

What happens all too frequently is that participants are left to process the insights, emotions, and traumas activated by the ceremony experience entirely on their own. More often than not, cry outs for support are met with platitudes like “Trust in the medicine!” rather than referrals to specialists more qualified to support the ceremony participant in healing and integration.

Whose responsibility is it to provide integration support?

Due to the nature of the psychedelic experience, lack of adequate integration can potentiate past traumas leaving individuals grappling with new personal challenges triggered by the ceremony itself. Having a referral network of trained integration providers is imperative for the safety and well-being of participants.

Underground ceremony facilitators are often ill-equipped to provide ongoing support since their primary focus is hosting and leading ceremonies. Ceremony assistants are typically members of the community who volunteer their time to support a ceremony, not ongoing integration support to participants.

Why aren't indigenous teachers and teachings at the core of the program?

With the expansion of sacred plant medicines around the world, medicine culture is becoming increasingly globalized and multicultural. These days, there are more non-indigenous people consuming sacred plant medicines and facilitating medicine ceremonies than indigenous.

Because of this phenomenon, we thought it essential that the integration practices being taught are appropriate for contemporary Western culture since those in most need of integration support are typically those from Western societies in the Global North.

For this reason, 70% of the program is focused on transformational modalities that were developed in the West with 30% of the program based on indigenous wisdom teachings.

We would love to include indigenous wisdomkeepers in a more prominent way, but the way that they teach is much more conducive to in-person, residential, apprenticeship-oriented instruction. The indigenous teachers contributing to the program have primary responsibilities as healers in their community and face many logistical challenges in accessing the internet. We do our best to invite wisdom keepers to share their wisdom over Zoom but also have to rely on locally recorded content filmed with the support of our field correspondents.Should you decide to travel to their community, the wisdom keepers welcome you with open arms.

You use the words "shaman" and "shamanic" frequently. Aren't the terms "shaman" and "shamanism" technically from Siberia?

A shaman can be defined as an earth-centered community guide and healer who travels between worlds to gather and transmit information that helps individuals and the community. A “shaman” is a person regarded as having access to, and influence in the world of benevolent and malevolent spirits. A shaman acts as an intermediary between the natural and supernatural worlds, using magic to cure illness, foretell the future, control spiritual and elemental forces, and affect outcomes in the physical world. Typically such people enter a trance state during a ritual and practice divination and healing.

The origin of the word “shaman” is believed to come from the Tungus Evenki language of North Asia, whose word “saman” means the (very roughly) holder of knowledge. The term “shamanism” was first applied by Western anthropologists as outside observers of the ancient religion of the Turks and Mongols, as well as those of the neighboring Tungusic and Samoyedic-speaking peoples.

Upon observing more religious traditions across the world, some Western anthropologists began to also use the term in a very broad sense. It was used to describe unrelated magico-religious practices found within the ethnic religions of other parts of Asia, Africa, Australasia, and even completely unrelated parts of the Americas, as they believed these practices to be similar to one another.

Mircea Eliade, a Romanian historian and leading interpreter of religious experience, writes "A first definition of this complex phenomenon, and perhaps the least hazardous, will be: shamanism = 'technique of religious ecstasy'."

While it may seem impossible to define such a broad range of phenomena experienced by a pantheon of distinct spiritual and religious practices under a single word derived from North Asian culture, and some argue, to do so is “cultural appropriation”...

The truth is, from a linguistic perspective, language often follows and evolves based on a commonly accepted understanding of what a word means by its users. So while the word curanderismo is more accurate when describing ayahuasca shamanism, and pajelança is more accurate in describing shamanism on the other side of the border in Brazil, in the English language the word “ayahuasca shamanism” dominates keyword searches for this phenomenon.

And so it is that “shaman” and “shamanism” have become the accepted, most commonly used words that describe the ancient practice that involves a practitioner reaching altered states of consciousness in order to perceive and interact with a spirit world and channel these transcendental energies into this world in order to affect real change.

It’s important to note that not all medicine ceremony leaders are healers. Because few people in English speaking society know what “pajé”, “onanya”, “marakame”, or “curandero” means, and most understand the concept of “shaman”, we’ve chosen intentionally to use the word “shaman” in our literature in order to communicate this concept, for lack of a better alternative word.

Shouldn't sacred plant medicines (including information about them) be free?

We are not a church, supported by membership dues, or regular tithing from a spiritual community that we support with religious services. We are a for-profit educational platform that pays our faculty and team fair market wages.

There is considerable expense involved in publishing digital information, from web hosting to expensive software subscriptions to copywriting, to graphic design and video editing. We sell courses and programs in order to cover those costs.

We are also in favor of socialized medicine, but sadly no government is subsidizing the costs of sacred plant medicine ceremonies!

While indeed the plants growing in Nature ARE free, it does take a lot of time, energy, and expertise to find them, extract them, then make them into medicine. It also takes considerable time, energy, and expense to lead an all-night ceremony. Typically this labor isn’t free.

Most of the people who believe that “sacred plant medicine should be free” are Westerners who confuse plant medicine shamanism with Eastern spiritual traditions, where spiritual services were conducted for free for the community, and the community regularly tithed the monastery cash and harvest on a monthly basis, allowing monks and nuns to focus entirely on spiritual practices.

To expect indigenous people and native Amazonians to do all of this without pay is not so different from the colonialism that once made the indigenous slaves of the conquistadors.

We expect to be paid for our work. We pay doctors in the West. Why shouldn’t plant medicine healers and shamans be paid well also?

Why is this program so expensive? How is this investment level accessible to BIPOC?

The tuition fee is a fair and competitive reflection of the value provided by this intensive program. In our considerable research into comparable programs, The Plant Spirit School Coach Certification program offers more live calls with more expert faculty, and a larger library of resources than most programs of this caliber.

High-end, high-touch group programs with live calls and personalized coaching support, typically offer only 2-4 live calls a month. We offer 4-6 lectures a month, as well as monthly virtual workshops and retreats.

We do have many offers that require much lower investment, and these are typically home-study courses. We also have a scholarship program for qualified BIPOC applicants with financial needs.

Are you a profiteering Corporadelic company? What is your business model?

We are a small, for-profit private social enterprise with the social benefit objective to:

[+] Increase awareness of the therapeutic benefits of entheogenic medicines when used safely, responsibly, and with integrity,
[+] Further harm reduction education and training, so that entheogenic healing spaces are safe, especially for BIPOC and LGBTQA+ participants
[+] Raise awareness of the sustainability and social justice concerns arising from the globalization of ancestral plant medicines,
[+] Expand diversity, equity and inclusion in the psychedelic sector, so that participation and healing may be accessible to all

And a commitment to continually re-invest company revenues towards furthering these objectives, while providing meaningful, fulfilling employment for the dedicated, hardworking members of our team.

We are not a volunteer-run nonprofit organization that relies on individual donors and grants in order to operate. All of our faculty are compensated a fair market value for their wisdom and expertise. Furthermore, the team of dedicated staff who have worked around the clock for months to bring this program to life is also paid a fair market wage for their labor. We believe everyone deserves to be paid for their labor, above all, healers and wisdom-keepers.

Like most companies, we keep our valued team employed throughout the calendar year, even though the business only brings in meaningful revenue during major event launches and program enrollment periods, which take place twice a year. Therefore we need to charge tuition rates that can keep the business running and provide our team with the stable employment they deserve.

Neither are we a venture-funded initiative supported by high-tech or cannabis capital. All revenues generated from the sale of Plant Spirit School programs go back into the company to create new, educational offers. The Plant Spirit School is a self-funded business that follows the principles of Sacred Commerce, whereby the Founder is the last person paid.
