Alejandro Cirilo Pérez Oxlaj is an ambassador for the indigenous peoples of Guatemala and is also a high Mayan priest of the thirteenth generation Quiche. From an early age Don Alejandro was recognized by the Mayan nation as a messenger to carry their traditions, and is the thirteenth generation of spiritual guides in his family.

For several years he has been president of the Mayan Council of Elders, a body of 440 men and women of wisdom in Guatemala, representing 23 diverse ethnic groups, and has the authority to speak on their behalf.
